I am a keen sports enthusiast with a passion for all sports but especially swimming, gymnastics and running.
I recently qualified for the 2019 Masters World Swimming Championships (in the 3km Open Water category) which this year is being held in South Korea.
Qualifying was a complete surprise and totally unexpected as I do not currently belong to a swimming club so I practice and race as an individual. My dedication and enthusiasm for training comes from enjoying sport and an intrinsic motivation to improve my fitness and challenge my own boundaries and capabilities. Qualifying for the World Championships is a happy reflection of the work I have put into my training. In all the lengths I have swum up and down the pool and in all the laps of the lake, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to compete for Great Britain at such an event! It is an honour to represent my country.
As qualifying was so unexpected, I do not have the financial means to attend the Championships and I will struggle to save the amount required in time for the event in August. I have begun fundraising, as well as picking up extra work.
