Capoeira Origens do Brasil

Capoeira Origens do Brasil

We are Capoeira Origens do Brasil, UK branch of an intercontinental group that has its roots in Brasilia, capital of Brazil. Our lineage of teachers descends from the two most important figures in the modern history of Capoeira, i.e. Mestre Bimba and Mestre Pastinha. We aim at preserving the traditions of Capoeira and adapting it to a more modern, more effective and healthier way of practicing.
Our group is very well established in Dorset and Hampshire since the year 2001, and we have classes running for both adults and children practicioners.

Capoeira combines martial arts and dance into an art form that encompasses Afro-Brazilian culture, music, language, and movement. It was first created in Brazil by slaves brought from Africa some time after the 16th century, as a way for the slaves to fight back against their owners. Characterised by powerful kicks, sweeps and strikes, but accompanied with instruments and songs, it disguised a deadly fighting style as something that looked like a dance.
Today, Capoeira is fast becoming a popular way to keep fit, improve strength and co-ordination. By practising Capoeira, it can help you to develop a great sense of self-esteem, flexibility, balance, discipline and respect for yourself and others
